Serving Minneapolis & St. Paul Families for Pet Cremation Services
Dedicated to serving you and your pets in a time of need
Dealing with the death of a pet is difficult enough without the added concern of:
- My dog or cat died at home, how do I move him/her, now what do I do?
- My pet was hit by a car, who do I call?
- My pet has been euthanized at the clinic, I don’t like my options, now what?
- What assurances do I really have that it’s only my pet’s ashes returned?
- What happens to my pet in those days or week until the cremation takes place?
- Do I really want to go through this all over again in a week or 10 days when I pick up the ashes from the veterinary clinic?
What People Are Saying About Pets Remembered

There is no doubt that sharing our lives with pets provides enrichment, growth and love beyond our wildest imaginations. Eventually we are forced to face their death and the release of their physical presence. This experience can be confusing, painful, stressful and full of heartache. Furthermore, the decision with respect to taking care of their body must be made.
Cremation is one of the most popular options for pets today. As we do for us, we do for our pets. However, pet crematories are often hidden behind a cloak of secrecy. Closed doors, difficult hours and forbidden public visits are common in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area.
You do have another option. Pets Remembered is family owned and operated by pet people who are passionate about providing the best care possible. Knowing the difference between the three cremation options and asking key questions can be helpful in making your decision and giving you peace of mind.
100% Private Cremation, Alone, One-in-one-out
100% Private cremation is just that — one pet in the cremation unit at a time, and ashes are returned to the family. The authorization form and cremation certificate should state that the cremation was private, alone, and/or one-in-one-out. This is the only way people are cremated, and it is the only type service Pets Remembered offers.
Group, Mass or Communal Cremation
In this method, many pets are put in the cremation chamber at once. Ashes are not returned as they are completely co-mingled and would be impossible to separate. Most commonly in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, the ashes are taken to a landfill following the cremation.
Partitioned, Separate, Separated Cremation
Partitioned Cremation or Separate Cremation is a hybrid between Group and Private. Multiple pets are placed within the unit but separated by a small barrier(bricks) or space. Ashes are then returned to the family. With this cremation, there is some active co-mingling of the ashes that occurs within the cremation unit and mixing upon removal of the ashes. Pets Remembered feels this is an unacceptable practice and does not offer it. Why pay a premium price and receive a mix of ashes? Listen closely and carefully to the providers words and read their authorization forms and ask to see a cremation certificate stating exactly the type of cremation done. This practice would never be done with people.
To make it even more confusing, the terminology labeling the different cremation options is varied and inconsistent in Minnesota. Be aware that the words Private or Individual are sometimes added in referring to cremations that are actually Separated and Partitioned. Ask questions of your provider to ensure you are receiving the service that you want.
Everyone should ask these questions of their veterinarian and crematory. When going through a vet clinic or hospital, find out who they use for cremation and call them. Your inquiries should be met with compassion, patience and thorough explanations. Anything short of that is a red flag.
♥ Can the cremation be witnessed if desired?
♥ Can ashes be returned within 1-2 days to accommodate the family’ psychological needs and wishes?
♥ What industry standard tracking system is used to guarantee pets are identifiable throughout the entire process.
Many families mistakenly assume they have to use the company of their veterinarian’s choosing for cremation. This is not the case. Specifically, a clinic may use a company that is cheap, or that they have used for a long period of time, thinking that is what the client would want. However, many families want to have their pet picked up sooner, cremated promptly, and the ashes returned faster, and want to know they are receiving only their pet’s ashes. Because your pet is your family member and your property, you have the right and choice to decide what happens to them in every facet of their life. Let your clinic or hospital know that you wish to use Pets Remembered and we will be there.
