Tally

About Tally

Tally was our English Springer Spaniel and she had the most gentle personality of any dog I ever owned. She loved people and happily welcomed every extended family member, neighbor and visitor to our home. She was a smart dog, responding to hand-commands, and she understood many words, particularly “Squirrel!” and “Baseball!”

Indeed, Tally’s favorite activity was playing baseball. As a coach I pitched countless whiffleballs to my children; Tally would shag all the foul balls and homeruns, retrieving them back to my hand, ready for the next hit. She was there in the middle of front yard soccer drills, touch-football games, autumn bonfires, and winter snowball fights. Not only was she a member of the family, she helped raise the kids.

But kids grow up, and dogs grow old. And then one day they are gone. Goodbye Tally, you were a wonderful companion, and we miss you very much.
