About Abby

Passed on July 29, 2013

In loving memory of Abigail (Abby) Nelson, born February 26, 1998 in Murray, Kentucky, adopted into our hearts and home February 11, 2011 in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Angel Day July 29, 2013 at the age of 15 ½. Survived by her loving fur ever family Scott, Becky, Michael, Madeline, and Sarah, her fur siblings Sammy the dog and Max the cat, and her special foster mom, Emily.

We were blessed by this beautiful, gentle fur child for 2 ½ wonderful, unconditional love-filled years! Although adopted at age 13, Abby still had a zest for life and joined our family with open paws! She loved to go for walks, smiling for the camera, her favorite toys – Mr. Squirrel and Mr. Cow, car rides, the flower garden, laying by a cozy fire, a back and ear rub and just plain hanging out together. She enjoyed Minnesota life (even the snow!) and the great outdoors up at the cabin where she got to feel the wind beneath her ears during pontoon rides! Abby displayed her happiness with a special happy dance for us and she never turned down food – of any kind! She made an impact on our lives and we will never be the same. In November of 2012, Abby was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue and lymph nodes. We provided loving care for her during her golden years and her journey with cancer, until we knew it was her time to rest and join her feline friend, Katie, at the Rainbow Bridge. Sweet Abby, thank you for the many lessons you taught us during our special time together! You will live on in our hearts forever!

A Special Message from Abby: There are great dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages in rescue organizations and shelters across the county. They are there through no fault of their own. When you’re looking for your next fur child, perhaps you could give one of them a chance. I am so grateful the Nelson family did! — Abby “Happy Dance” Nelson
