Gunny Hurdt
April 25, 2019 – June 9, 2025
Gunny, AKA Gun, Gunneth VonGunderson, Bubba, Gunner, Mister, Handsome, Lubber Boy, & The GOODEST Boy EVER, Came to live with us at the tender age of 7 weeks old.
Gunny “spotted” dad from a woodpile he was hiding in at the yard of his canine siblings, and ran directly to him! Dad knew it was him, that would be ours! Mom had NO idea that soon there would be a large Golden Retriever in our family, but from the moment I saw this bundle of love, I couldn’t resist, I could barely wait the 2 weeks left until he was old enough to leave his mama and be ours forever!
Gunny was a “once in a lifetime” dog. From the first day of being at his forever home, he displayed an uncanny awareness of his new family and his surroundings. He was smart, loving, playful, well behaved, patient and oh SO Handsome!
He loved life, and enjoyed every day. Although he LOVED the winter snow at home, running and rolling in it, he also enjoyed spending the winters in Texas with mom, dad, and canine brother Ruger, and made a lot of friends there. He had special stops along the way on his walks to visit with other canine pals, and there were many human friends that couldn’t resist stopping by the yard to say hello and offer treats to him. He never complained about the 22 hour drive each way, he was the best traveler, it was an adventure to him! He loved riding shotgun with mom in the Camaro, with the windows down, sunroof open and the music playing. He knew how cool he was!
His very favorite place to be was at the summer cabin. There he learned to jump off the end of the dock and retrieve his beloved chuck-it balls! He could give any athlete a run for their money! He loved “fishing” in the shoreline water, boat rides, fishing on the boat with dad, swimming, rolling in the sand and blowing bubbles in the water, ON COMMAND!
But his most favorite thing ever, was playing ball! He was NEVER without at least one chuck-it ball at ALL times, ready to play, or just relax and chew on the ball! He was just ALWAYS filled with love and happiness.
Gunny is survived by his canine blood brother, Ruger, and his rescued feline brother, Eddie.
Only six short years with us, we can’t help but feel cheated.
Gunny… Tho the time together was TOO short, we are so grateful for those years we had with you. You filled our hearts with more love than we ever thought possible. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever. You fought so hard to stay with us, but we know that once you crossed that Rainbow Bridge, you were greeted by your past siblings, Stan and Mojo with everlasting love, and that, somewhat eases our grief.
Gonna miss hearing you crunch those Cheetos, and most of all, those slobbery, and I mean SLOBBERY wet kisses!
Until we meet again… ALL OUR LOVE,
Mom, Dad, Heather, Lenny, Austin, Ruger, and Eddie
