About Halle Bare-y Wallace

Passed on September 13, 2021

On Monday, September 13, 2021, Halle Bare-y Wallace went to kitty Heaven at 18.5 years. She was, quite simply, the perfect cat her whole life. Her favorite spot to curl up was the fireplace, which she demanded be turned on every single day of the year! That is where she left this world peacefully with Brad and Kara.

She joined Brad and Kara’s family in early 2004 at one year old, a few months after they were married. It was her third home, and it would be her last. She flew to Minnesota from the breeder in Hollywood, hence the name Halle Bare-y. No one has ever picked up something cuter from the special baggage claim! She was supposed to be Brad’s cat, as Kara never owned a house pet and was a little skeptical. Within the first minutes of the car ride home, as if on cue, Halle stretched out her paw through the cage and touched Kara’s arm, immediately melting both their hearts.

Halle knew what she wanted from the start. When they arrived home, Brad and Kara put her in a room of her own. Of course, Brad had done all the research and set up everything according to best practices to help her adjust during the first week in a new home. But she wasn’t interested in any of the “best practices.” Within the first hour, she insisted they let her out of her room. Next, when they introduced her to her shiny new kitty bed, she marched straight past it, hopped into their bed, and laid right on top of Kara. And she slept that way for the next 18 years.

Halle was a loving kitty who always wanted to be around people – she was constantly cuddling or playing with you. In fact, she excelled at her profession (manipulation), in that she could get anything she wanted and make you feel grateful for the opportunity! She especially honed these skills during the many months she spent with her “grandparents,” Denny and Kathy.

During 2020, Brad and Kara spent all their time together at home with Halle (during which she interrupted more than one Zoom meeting!). She was diagnosed with diabetes during that year and needed extra attention. That was probably a blessing in disguise, because Brad and Kara really took time to appreciate every day with her, knowing that she had well exceeded her life expectancy already. Even when she slowed down with age, she never stopped showing her love.

We could write a book about how funny, sweet and amazing she was. We are lucky to have had her in our lives. Halle Bare-y was perfect in every way, and she will be dearly missed by those who loved her. We had to say goodbye in this world, but she will be in our hearts forever.
