Jago Muffin Ostroot

July 1, 1997 – March 6, 2012

On March 6, 2012, Jago Muffin Ostroot of Eden Prairie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her pack. She leaves behind her human companion, Judy, pack members Ted and Pogo, and joins friends and pack members who have gone on before her: Emmy, Buford, Daisy, and Kelsey.

Jago lived a long, full life and was renowned for her speed, tenacity, and intelligence. Quick and agile, she was famous in some circles for having once run down a rabbit. She was a skilled excavator in spite of her dainty paws, able to move many cubic feet of dirt per hour in pursuit of chipmunks and woodchucks. Though a nervous traveler, she adored exploring new places, visiting locations as diverse as Cannon Beach, Oregon, and The Lost Forty in Northern Minnesota. Jago was sweet to humans, a good leader to dogs, and a constant threat to squirrels and chippies.

Those that loved her found their lives enriched by her presence, and learned much from her example: to stay true, to love unconditionally, that sometimes big things come in small packages, and that the right attitude can win the day.

She is dearly missed.
