BAXTER

Baxter came to us via the Humane Society at 8 weeks of age. He was a black lab/pointer mix, but mostly looked like a black pointer. He grew into a very handsome dog with a shiny coat and very long legs. And those legs could run! Baxter became my best running companion. He once ran 13 miles with me. He had the body of an athlete; all muscle. To watch him run was pure joy. Baxter also loved to play Frisbee and swim and did both without abandon.

Ironic that such an athletic dog would develop a debilitating disease like bone cancer. It was heartbreaking to see him unable to run or chase the Frisbee.

Baxter left us May 22, 2014 at age 6 and a half. He died way too young, but he gave us much joy in his short life. We miss him every day. He is in dog heaven running, swimming and chasing a Frisbee!
