About Gabby

We had to say good-bye to our vocal girl, 12-year-old Gabby, the same night we said goodbye to Nikita.

Gabby was being treated for a very severe urinary tract infection. Our vets found that it had caused irreversible damage to her kidneys and bladder wall.

Her unexpected loss came just hours after saying good-bye to Nikita. We didn’t know if our hearts could take any more.

We find peace knowing Gabby spent the last week inside the Animal Care Office, getting so much love and attention from all her caretakers. I know that’s how she would’ve requested her last days to be.

Gabby arrived at our sanctuary in 2018, after being returned twice to an out-of-state, domestic animal shelter. She’d come to them from another overcrowded shelter.

She’d been bounced from place to place, home to home, because she urinated outside the litter box.

Gabby came with her name and we found it to be quite fitting since she loved to talk, talk, talk. Because she had a big voice, in a small, sweet body, we knew just the perfect bungalow for her – with Ty, our big Chausie cat.

Ty had lost his love interest years earlier. Her name was Luna Tunes and she was just as vocal as Gabby, and just as small.

It was a match made in heaven.

We know both Luna and Gabby are still looking over Ty. And we’re so thankful Gabby allowed us to look after her.

She was a gentle girl who loved human affection. She preferred having one of her caretakers sit with her during meal time.

We were happy to oblige and that was the only time Gabby was really quiet.

Volunteers working onsite remember Gabby fondly because she would greet them with her voice as soon as she could see them, even if they were 100 feet away.

Gabby might have been small, but her voice and personality filled our hearts. Gabby, you will be missed.

You are now at a place your voice will always be heard.

If you’d like to donate any amount in Gabby’s honor toward her end-of-life expenses, that would be very helpful. Thank you.
