For more than 13 years this sweet, gentle dog has been my daily companion and my friend. His life was full of treats and walks and car rides and fetching sticks and adventures and naps and pets and one-sided conversations with me. None of that could ever be enough to repay him for his relentless, unconditional love. Ever present as my children grew, he shaped their young lives in ways they probably don’t yet realize. He was one of the best decisions I ever made.

We never did tell Floyd that he was adopted.  He seemed to consider himself one of us from the very beginning. In the end, surrounded by his pack of people, we let him pass to his final resting place believing that he was always, and will forever be, ours.
