About Pete

Passed on July 16, 2012

This little stinker brought us a world of joy from the very moment he was introduced into our home. Starting off as a family cat, Pete quickly got comfortable as the centerpiece of our living space, and my life. Our bond was instant, and for 9 wonderful years I called him my best friend. He was a large, bengal-tabby mix, weighing in at about 16 pounds during his prime. In 2010, he left his 3 story home and transition with me into the big city. After about a year of ruling our 500 square foot apartment, our vocal feline started getting sick. He was quickly diagnosed with fatty liver disease and diabetes. After months of insulin shots and medication, our vet informed us that Pete’s condition was like one he hadn’t quite seen before. We then started to cope with the fact that our kitty was going to pass, sooner rather than later.

So, we loved him, cuddled him, and did everything we could to make him happy. He got to eat whatever he wanted, was allowed to climb on the counter and spent a lot time by the window, watching the birds. It came to a point where we had to make the call, and decided to put Peter down before his condition worsened. When the time came, he went peacefully surrounded by his family, in the comforts of his home.

I never thought an animal would have this big of an impact on our lives. Pete will always be remembered as a one-of-a-kind kitten who always had something to say. He loved water, greeting whoever came to the door, waking me up at 8am, lounging, wet food, fresh grass, and family-cuddle time His presence will never be forgotten.
