About Scout Chapman

Passed on December 30, 2023

Scout was born 3/17/2014. She had many nicknames- Scouty, lil Scoop, lil Silk, Scooty

We went to pick up our beautiful vizsla puppy on a Sunday in May 2014. I remember the day so well and we were instantly in love with Scout. She was always so gentle, sweet, playful, and loving. I remember the first time she went “into the cave” (under the blankets) I was worried but quickly realized she loved the extra warmth and comfort.

She was my husband and I’s first dog together. She was with us through so many milestones- getting our first home together, getting married, getting a second dog, and most recently in July 2022 she became a big sister to our baby boy.

Scout loved laying out in the sun, going for walks, running around, and being active. She and my husband did some hunting together. She was an excellent pointer and incredibly speedy. She also very much enjoyed carrying around socks or shoes in her mouth. She had a goofy and fun spirit. To know Scout, was to love Scout.

Sadly she was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in December 2021. Thanks to the care she received at the University of WI- Madison Oncology, followed by the University of MN Oncology- we had 2 more wonderful years with Scout. She very bravely faced cancer and we are so grateful that we had more time with her.

She passed away peacefully, as we knew it was her time, and time to be out of the pain- on 12/30/2023, when she was just about 3 months away from being 10 years old.

We will forever hold Scout in our hearts. She was truly one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever known, and have ever had the privilege to be in a relationship with. I know Scout and I will stay connected forever. A little piece of my heart went with Scout. Thank you for all the wonderful years we had together Scout. We are so grateful and blessed to have you as our dog. We love you forever Scouty.

Love,

Your mom Allie , dad Ryan, and brother Townes
